{"id":25300,"date":"2025-06-16T14:46:21","date_gmt":"2025-06-16T14:46:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/monlau-motorsport.com\/?p=25300"},"modified":"2025-06-16T14:46:21","modified_gmt":"2025-06-16T14:46:21","slug":"two-wins-and-five-podiums-for-the-monlau-motul-karting-team-in-campillos","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/monlau-motorsport.com\/en\/two-wins-and-five-podiums-for-the-monlau-motul-karting-team-in-campillos\/","title":{"rendered":"Two wins and five podiums for the Monlau Motul Karting Team in Campillos"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong><strong>Thiago Huertas&#8217;s double win in the Mini Rookie class headlines a weekend in which the 15 Monlau Motul riders demonstrated outstanding speed from practice.<\/strong><\/strong><br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>In addition to Huertas, David Miciuna and Egor Ivanchenko in the Junior category, and Sete Ve\u00e0 in the KZ category, remain in contention for the titles.<\/strong><br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>This edition will feature seven teams comprised of two riders, a crew chief, and five students, competing on Honda CBR600RR F25s prepared in the workshops.<\/strong><br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><em>\u201cAll the team&#8217;s drivers demonstrated great speed, which confirms the excellent teamwork, both from those who get into the karts and those in charge of their setup and tuning,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0\u00a0emphasizes Rub\u00e9n Sim\u00f3n, Team Manager of the Monlau Motul Karting Team.<\/strong><br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><em>\u201cThe seven podium finishes and consistent results confirm the team&#8217;s strong performance in 2025. We have met the challenge of being competitive in all the categories where we operate,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0\u00a0adds Jaime Serrano, CEO of Monlau Motul Technical School.<\/strong><br><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Monlau Motul Karting Team closed the halfway point of the Spanish Karting Championship (CEK) in Campillos, M\u00e1laga, with an impressive haul of seven podium finishes, two of them first place, and a significant demonstration of speed from the team members. Thiago Huertas, with his double win in Mini Rookie, tops the team&#8217;s record, which also shone in Junior with a 3rd and 2nd place in the finals for David Miciuna; in KZ, with two third places for Sete Ve\u00e0; and in Senior, with a 3rd place for Nicol\u00e1s Garc\u00eda in the second final.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Campillos circuit hosted the second CEK event, with the heat dominating the event. This factor significantly influenced all participants, both in terms of kart setup and, especially, physical demands. Despite the adversity, the 15 members of Monlau Motul demonstrated a positive adaptation to the elements, demonstrating great consistency and speed from the first training sessions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The smaller Mini Rookie category was one of the most satisfying for Monlau Motul Karting Team all weekend. The two rookies, Thiago Huertas and Sasha Miras, were fast on time, posting the two best times in their class, as well as second and sixth place, respectively, in the overall standings. After the qualifying heats, Huertas took second place on the grid among the&nbsp;&nbsp;<em>rookies<\/em>&nbsp;&nbsp;, and Miras took third, heading into Sunday&#8217;s first final. When push came to shove, Thiago Huertas put in two flawless races, recovering positions to finish sixth and fourth overall, which in turn earned him overall victories among the rookies. Sasha Miras was less fortunate, forced to retire in the first final and came back in the second to take the win in fourth place among the rookies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Monlau Motul Mini drivers, on the other hand, had mixed fortunes in Campillos. The best was Alexander Kwong, who improved his performance to finish 9th and 5th in the final two races. Misfortune was different for Massimiliano Filonzi, who failed to match the speed of the qualifying sessions, finishing 5th and 24th in the finals, finishing the races in 24th and 33rd. Completing the team&#8217;s results were Guillem Coll (30th and 19th) and Rafael Sim\u00f3n, who retired from both qualifying events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the Junior division, the Monlau Motul colors had a strong presence at the top of the timesheets starting Friday. David Miciuna, Iv\u00e1n Gonz\u00e1lez, and Egor Ivanchenko were the team&#8217;s standout performers on Saturday, finishing in 5th, 6th, and 7th, respectively, in the combined practice and qualifying heats. They maintained that trend on Sunday, with Miciuna securing a double podium finish (3rd and 2nd) and Gonz\u00e1lez two outstanding qualifying finishes (7th and 4th). Ivanchenko, meanwhile, had a mixed bag, finishing 4th in the first final and dropping to 23rd in the second. Rounding out the team&#8217;s results were Tom\u00e1s Tavares (12th and 11th) and \u00c1lvaro Perell\u00f3 (retirement and 26th).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Monlau Motul Karting Team&#8217;s KZ weekend evolved in the same vein as Junior. To start, three of the team&#8217;s four representatives secured places in the top 10 at the end of Saturday&#8217;s heats, with Sete Ve\u00e0 in 6th, Asier Garc\u00eda in 7th, and Eloi Gonz\u00e1lez in 8th, and the fourth member, Berta R\u00e0fols, not much further behind in 11th. These positive feelings were replicated the following day, with Ve\u00e0 the most notable name. The Catalan added two more podium finishes to his tally this season, both in third place, collecting a notable haul of points to stay in the title race. Ve\u00e0 preceded his teammate Eloi Gonz\u00e1lez in both finals, finishing 4th, while the rest of the team members experienced a day of contrasts: Asier Garc\u00eda finished 7th and 13th, while Berta R\u00e0fols finished the scoring events in 23rd and 18th place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Finally, the sole Monlau Motul representative in the Senior category, Nicol\u00e1s Garc\u00eda, left the Campillos event with a significant number of points in his bag. After finishing 5th in time trials and 9th in heats, the driver supported by the Andalusian Automobile Federation climbed to 6th in the first final and 3rd in the second, achieving the seventh podium finish of the event for the Monlau Motul Karting Team.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Rub\u00e9n Sim\u00f3n<\/strong>&nbsp;, Team Manager of Monlau Motul Karting Team, assessed one of the team&#8217;s keynote addresses of the weekend at the Malaga track:&nbsp;&nbsp;<em>&#8220;Beyond the final race results, which were very good, all the drivers demonstrated great speed. This confirms the excellent work of the team, both in terms of driving by those behind the wheel and in terms of setup and fine-tuning by those in charge of ensuring the karts always perform at their best. This is the direction we must follow for the two events remaining at the CEK.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Monlau Motul CEO&nbsp;&nbsp;<strong>Jaime Serrano<\/strong>&nbsp;added:&nbsp;&nbsp;<em>\u201cThe seven podium finishes we&#8217;ve achieved and the consistency of our results show that the team, despite being very young, is making very good progress in 2025. We&#8217;re closing out the first half of the CEK season with a satisfied performance and with our goal of being competitive in all the categories we&#8217;re present in.
