The Barcelona-based team secured&nbsp;&nbsp;<em>pole position<\/em>&nbsp;, a victory, and two podium finishes in the fourth round of the 2026 TCR Europe championship. These results place Viktor Andersson and Marco Butti in second and third place in the drivers&#8217; championship, respectively, and the team just seven points off the lead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The action began on Friday with two free practice sessions, where the Barcelona team fine-tuned the setup of the CUPRA Le\u00f3n VZ TCRs for a circuit that, on paper, wasn&#8217;t among the most favorable for their characteristics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Saturday morning saw a brilliant performance in qualifying. Butti set a time of 1:51.954 to achieve his first&nbsp;<em>&nbsp;pole position<\/em>&nbsp;&nbsp;of the season, while Andersson secured eighth position in a very close session, allowing him to start from third on the reverse grid for the second race. Adam Shepherd completed qualifying in 12th position.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first race, held on Saturday afternoon, began with Butti defending his&nbsp;&nbsp;<em>pole position<\/em>&nbsp;, although the Italian lost the lead in the opening meters. Far from giving up, he remained in contention for the win and crossed the finish line in second place. However, a subsequent penalty for the winner awarded him the victory, his first of the season. Andersson staged an excellent comeback from eighth to fourth and, after the same penalty, climbed to the third step of the podium. Shepherd completed a consistent race to finish seventh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The second race, held on Sunday, again showcased a strong performance from the team. Andersson capitalized on a good start to move into second place, while Butti also made an excellent start, climbing from tenth to sixth in the early stages. Shepherd also had a great start to the race, quickly moving into the top ten. However, a technical issue forced the Briton to retire while maintaining a competitive pace. Butti continued to progress until crossing the finish line in third position, while Andersson finished fourth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The results in Hungary have further tightened the championship battle. Andersson has climbed to second place in the overall standings, just 14 points behind the leader, while Butti sits in third, 15 points adrift. In the Youth Trophy, the Swedish rider has taken the lead with a 13-point advantage over his teammate, who now occupies second place. Furthermore, Monlau Motul has moved up to second place in the teams&#8217; standings, just seven points off the lead, strengthening their hopes of securing all three titles with two races remaining in the season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>David Sim\u00f3n<\/strong>&nbsp;, team manager of Monlau Motul, was very positive about the result achieved on a challenging circuit for the team:&nbsp;&nbsp;<em>\u201cIt was a very positive weekend. Initially, it wasn&#8217;t a circuit that particularly suited our strengths, but we managed to maximize our chances and score a large number of points with Marco and Viktor. It&#8217;s a shame what happened with Adam in the second race, where a technical issue forced us to retire, but the work of the engineers and mechanics was once again excellent. We managed to pull through a difficult weekend and we&#8217;re heading into the last two races with two riders in contention for the title.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Jaime Serrano<\/strong>&nbsp;, CEO of Monlau Motul, highlighted the team&#8217;s current form:&nbsp;&nbsp;<em>\u201cLeaving Hungary with a pole position, a victory, two podium finishes, and two drivers fully engaged in the championship fight confirms the excellent work being done by the entire team. We&#8217;ve also taken a significant step forward in the team standings, where we&#8217;re now just seven points behind the leader.
