Estrella Galicia 0,0 riders Aron Canet and Enea Bastianini were big protagonists in the Moto3 Aragon GP, which took place over just 13 laps instead of the scheduled 20. The change in race length came about as a result of thick fog in the morning, which also delayed the warmup for the lower cylinder class.

\nDespite a crash on the Saturday, Aron Canet had taken third place on the grid for the race at MotorLand, and set the second best time in the delayed warmup session on Sunday morning. When the race got underway, the Spaniard remained comfortable in third, following teammate Enea Bastianini who was just a few metres ahead. Canet would take the lead with just 5 laps remaining, but constant overtaking led to a frenetic finale to the race. On the last lap he battled for the podium, and finished just 0.341s off the rostrum spots. Canet’s fifth place allows him to cut the gap to second placed Romano Fenati in the overall standings to 18 points.
\nTaking off from second on the grid and starting Sunday with the tenth best time in the warm up, Enea Bastianini took the holeshot with a great start. On the following laps he was one of the fastest riders in a thrilling race that featured some ten riders in the lead group. With just six laps remaining Bastianini attempted to break away, but the group swallowed him up and he was forced to fight for a podium spot on the final laps. During the last lap he had victory in his sights, and only the leader of the World Championship, Joan Mir, was able to deny the Italian his first victory of the season. Bastianini is\u00a0 ninth in the overall standings with 103 points.

\n“Our riders looked very good today. Since practice, both they and the team have done a great job, which got us onto the front row. It was a sprint race after the problems with the fog in the morning, and the presence of such a long straight means that your strategies can break down in a moment. Bastianini was able to place well in the end, but Aron was hindered on the last lap. I think Aron could have fought to win the race. Our analysis, however, is very positive.
