Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 riders Arón Canet and Enea Bastianini took part in a private test this week at the Circuito de Jerez, although the pair were unable to complete all of their planned work due to wind and rain on Thursday.
Conditions on Wednesday were more favourable for testing, and Canet put in 78 laps and Bastianini 64, respectively, as they continued their work on setups from the recent test in Valencia. On Thursday, rain overnight and during part of the morning combined with heavy gusts of wind- prevented them working further.
In order for the duo to recover the lost day and with the firm intention of coming into the first official test of the year -to be held on March 8th, 9th and 10th in Jerez- in the best shape possible, the riders and their crews will be back on track for another private outing on Tuesday of next week.
ENEA BASTIANINI – 1:48.168 / 64 laps / 287km
“We couldnt complete the work we had planned”
“Yesterday morning we were able to work on different setup solutions, but at about 2pm the wind was very strong and we had to stop. In the afternoon we went back on track and completed a lot of laps, but we didnt find a good compromise with the setup that allowed me to ride comfortably. Today the conditions were not good for testing, so couldnt complete the work we had planned which was to test all of the setup options we had pending since the last test in Valencia. However, we will be back testing again next week and in the following week we have the IRTA test; These days of testing will be very good for us to keep working and keep moving forward.”
ARÓN CANET – 1:47.746 / 78 laps / 345km
“We have drawn some very valuable conclusions for the first IRTA test”
“Yesterday we were able to ride quite a bit but, although the temperature of the asphalt was good, the wind did not allow me to ride at all comfortably -so I found it difficult to improve my times. However, apart from this, we were able to take steps forward with setting up the Honda and we drew some very valuable conclusions for the first IRTA test, that will take place at this track. This circuit is not one of my favourites, and the fact that I have a better pace every time I ride here motivates me a lot. Today the track was very dirty – with a lot of mud – because it was raining all night and during the morning, so we decided not to go out and use this day of testing that we have available to continue working here next week.”
