Monlau Motul’s Master’s in Motorsport Engineering: the first step towards elite competition

  • The in-person program, which has reached the maximum number of available places for its 2025 edition, maintains its practical focus, with on-track training, top-level instructors, and direct collaboration with motorsports and motorcycle racing teams.
  • Master’s graduates pursue careers at the highest level of motorsport, competing in leading championships such as MotoGP™, Formula 1™, WRC, WorldSBK, and WEC, among others.
  • «We believe that real learning happens when the student steps into the box, and that’s something all of us who have participated in this master’s program have experienced firsthand. That’s why the program combines a solid technical foundation with constant practical application,» emphasizes Gerard Gasulla, the Master’s coordinator.

The Master’s Degree in Motorsport Engineering at Monlau Motul Technical School reaffirms its position as one of the most comprehensive and specialized training programs in the sector thanks to its unique model. With a high job placement rate and a model based on real-world practical on-track training, this postgraduate degree has become a decisive step for engineers aspiring to join the competition elite. The

2025 class has reached 36 places available, and for the 2026 class, they are practically sold out, confirming the growing interest and confidence in a program that combines technical excellence with direct pit experience.

On-track learning
Over ten months, the Master’s degree combines more than 350 hours of lectures with in-person sessions at Monlau Motul’s facilities in Montcada and Reixac (Barcelona) and on-track practice, both in motorsport and motorcycling. These sessions allow students to face real-world track situations, manage data, analyze vehicle dynamics, and coordinate work with drivers and mechanics, applying the same methods and tools used by professional teams.

In addition, students have the opportunity to work closely with the school’s own sports teams, which compete in prestigious national and international championships such as the FIM JuniorGP™, TCR Europe and TCR Spain, the Spanish F4, and the Spanish Karting Championship.

Thanks to its part-time format, the program offers the flexibility necessary for students to combine their studies with their professional activities, without sacrificing the high standards that characterize Monlau Motul.

“At Monlau Motul Technical School, we believe that real learning happens when the student steps into the pit box, and that’s something all of us who have participated in this master’s program have experienced firsthand. That’s why the program combines a solid technical foundation with constant practical application. Each track day is an opportunity for students to work as real engineers, applying what they’ve learned with the same methods and tools we use in our own sports teams. There’s no better way to understand the professional reality of motorsport than to experience it from the inside,” explains Gerard Gasulla, coordinator of the Master’s program.

Professors who compete at the highest level.
All this is possible thanks to a prestigious faculty of professors and speakers, active in the main categories of world motorsport, who share their experience and direct vision of the competition with the students.

Among them, there are highly relevant engineers such as Sergi Borrull (Yamaha Pramac Racing Team Moto2), Silvia Gaiani (V System, Ducati Motor Holding, ex Akrapovic and VECA SpA), Daniel Gratacós (Dakar champion with Peugeot and Audi, ex Mercedes DTM and ex engineer for Carlos Sainz and Carlos Sainz Jr.), Mario Manganelli (ex Mercedes AMG F1™, Aprilia and KTM MotoGP™), Sergio Rinland (CEO of Astauto, ex Brabham F1™, Dallara F1™, Fondmetal F1™, Benetton F1™, Sauber F1™ and DTM), Carles Martínez (World RX with Hansen Motorsport, ex Toro Rosso F1™ and Sauber F1™), Marc Nadal (Nadal Technologies and collaborator in Extreme E, ex Opel DTM and Monlau-MVD), Xavier Palacín (head of KTM Moto3 and MotoGP™ engine development team, former chief mechanic for Álex Márquez, Fabio Quartararo and Arón Canet at Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 Moto3), Xavier Soldevila (KTM MotoGP™ Test Team), Albert Talamino (LCR Honda MotoGP™ and world champion with Álex Márquez), Max Moro (Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 in FIM JuniorGP™) and David Simón, director of the Auto Division at Monlau Motul and currently an engineer at Dempsey Proton (WEC and ELMS).

The 2025 edition also includes former student Adrià Castilla, Data Engineer for KTM Factory Team MotoGP™ with Pedro Acosta, who gives a masterclass on data analysis in MotoGP™. Added to this is the collaboration with Lafer SpA, a company specializing in surface engineering and PVD/DLC coatings and supplier to Ducati MotoGP™ and Ferrari F1™, which offers a technical module on PVD/DLC treatments and their influence on the efficiency of engine and chassis components.

“Our mission is to train engineers who are ready to work in a professional team from day one. This master’s degree offers training that goes far beyond theory: students learn to make decisions, react to unexpected events, and cope with the pressure of real competition. This experience is what makes the difference in their future careers,” says Jaime Serrano, CEO of Monlau Motul Technical School.

A direct springboard to the motorsport elite
Since its creation in 2010, the Master has trained more than 400 engineers who today work in championships such as MotoGP™, Formula 1™, WEC, WRC, WorldSBK, GT World Challenge, FIM JuniorGP™ or the Dakar Rally, among others, which confirms the real impact of this training in the motorsport industry.

With a practical methodology, active faculty, and close ties to racing teams, the Monlau Motul Master’s in Motorsport Engineering continues to be the starting point for those who dream of joining the elite of global motorsports and motorcycling.
