In spite of an uncertain weather forecast and a wet track during the morning warmup, Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 riders Enea Bastianini and Aron Canet eventually contested this Sundays German GP on a dry surface.
Bastianini has started from the third row from the grid, and during the opening laps he tried to catch the group consisting of the fastest riders. However, their strong pace, combined with the constant overtaking around him, prevented the Italian from achieving his goal for the first part of the race. When the contest entered its final laps, Bastianini managed to lead a large group of up to ten riders, eventually crossing the line in sixth place for further World Championship points.
Although Aron Canet started from pole position, he had a tricky start to the German GP. He was passed for the holeshot and subsequently lost ground on several of his rivals, struggling with grip issues and unable to latch onto the leading group. As part of the second pack, he battled to regain places, but the lack of feeling meant he was unable to save a crash when he lost the front end. Canet is now third in the overall standings, 55 points behind the leader.

“It’s a shame that Aron is leaving Germany without scoring points. Enea had a great race, gaining strength”
“Enea had a great race, gaining strength as the laps went by. He gained positions and finally finished sixth, despite the problems with a lack of grip with the hard tyre that he had at the beginning of the race. If he had been able to push harder on the first few laps, he might have been able to reach the leading group. On the other hand, it was a shame about what happened to Aron at the start. He had chosen the hard tyre and didnt have a very good feeling with it, but almost all the grid had chosen it and that gave a certain equality in the conditions. The positive point from the weekend is that Aron took pole and showed he is fast. It’s a shame that he is leaving Germany without scoring points. In mid-July we have a test at the Brno Circuit, which is sure to make us better prepared for when the season resumes.”
ENEA BASTIANINI
“I set a very fast lap at the end of the race”
“It was a good race. At first it was difficult for me to go fast because I was riding with a very large group. As the laps went by, I felt better and regained positions. I set a very fast lap at the end of the race. We have to work on being more competitive on the opening laps, so as not to lose contact with the front group, because we have shown that we can be very fast towards the end of the race.”
ARÓN CANET
“The positive thing is that in practice we were fast; its a pity we did not to have the same feeling in the race.”
“I didnt feel comfortable with the hard tyre, right from the start of the race, but at that moment I thought it was something momentary. I had hoped to be able to push hard to go with the lead group. However, I soon realised that I had no grip with the rear tyre, which gave me many problems both when cornering and when accelerating out of the turns. I tried my best to change the way I rode, forcing the front end more. Finally I lost the front and crashed out. The positive thing is that in practice we were fast; its a pity we did not to have the same feeling in the race.
