Estrella Galicia 0,0 riders begin Spanish Grand Prix steadily

The Estrella Galicia 0,0 riders undertook their first action in Europe this season on Friday at Jerez, although practice on the opening day of the Spanish Grand Prix was affected by rain.

With Jerez a track well known by both Enea Bastianini and Aron Canet, due to frequent preseason testing at the circuit each year, both riders preferred not to take risks in a wet FP1. They instead waited until the afternoon to put in their first laps, with the weather allowing for a dry FP2.

Aron Canet was immediately among the fastest riders in FP2. As the session progressed, he dropped slightly down the order, but pushed hard again in the final moments. The Spaniard thus managed to lower his best time and gain positions, finishing the afternoon eleventh with a top time of 1:51.584.
Enea Bastianini comes into the Spanish GP especially motivated by his fourth place from the last race in Austin. The 2016 Moto3 World Championship runner-up went out with 15 minutes remaining before the end of the session and went into the Top 5. In the final moments he set his best time of 1:51.932, putting him fifteenth and leaving him satisfied with a day in which the weather limited his track time.

The Estrella Galicia 0,0 riders will return to action on Saturday at 9:00am for the third Free Practice session of the weekend, followed by qualifying at 12:35pm local time

‘Wild Card’ work experience for Monlau Repsol Technical School

Continuing an initiative that has run for several seasons, the Estrella Galicia 0,0 box at Jerez featured a very special technical team on Friday, as three students from the Monlau Repsol Technical School participated in a pioneering initiative in the World Championship.

This working system consists of an internship program, in which two students in their final year of the Motorcycle Racing Mechanics course, and a student from the Master of Engineering of Competition course, undertake work experience under the tutelage of the engineers and mechanics from Team Estrella Galicia 0,0.
