Monlau Motul Karting Team takes 6 wins, 9 podiums and the Mini title in the last CEK round

  • Morales’ Spanish championship title in Mini is joined by the runner-up positions of Iván Luis González in this same division, Eloi González in Senior and Santi Vallvé in KZ.
  • Monlau Motul drivers have taken 6 of the 10 victories up for grabs at the Lucas Guerrero International Karting Track in Chiva, the venue for the closing of the 2024 season.
  • “The team has been able to cope with the difficult weather conditions and the pressure, in many cases, of the championship finals with a spectacular record of victories and podium finishes, which has kept us in the places of honour in almost all divisions,” says Rubén Simón, Team Manager of the Monlau Motul Karting Team.
  • “We say goodbye to a year in which both the riders and the technical staff have done a magnificent job, staying true to the objective we set for them at the start of the season: to be competitive in all categories from start to finish,” says Jaime Serrano, CEO of Monlau Motul Technical School.

Monlau Motul Karting Team closed the 2024 edition of the Spanish Karting Championship (CEK) with a date at the Lucas Guerrero International Karting Track in Chiva, which witnessed the coronation of Nuvola Morales in the Mini category and the runner-up finishes of Iván Luis González (Mini), Eloi González (Sénior) and Santi Vallvé (KZ). The Monlau Motul drivers once again demonstrated their great competitiveness in all divisions, sealing the event with an impressive haul of results, with six wins and three other podium finishes in the finals.

The Lucas Guerrero International Karting Track in Chiva welcomed the CEK participants in weather marked by intermittent rain. The succession of changes between dry and wet tracks became a headache for drivers and technical staff, having to fine-tune the set-up of the karts before each session, especially during the timed heats on Saturday.

The best news of the weekend for Monlau Motul Karting Team came in the Mini category, a true breeding ground for future motorsport talents. Iván Luis González arrived at this event as leader of the classification and Nuvola Morales in fourth place, but with full mathematical options, given the overall equality. Morales demonstrated his great form from the training sessions, where he set the best time, and the heats, which he finished in second position, ahead of Iván Luis González (6th) and Álvaro Perelló (7th). Sunday, under dry weather, began with a first group final that ended up being won by Nuvola Morales, accompanied on the podium by Álvaro Perelló (3rd). Iván Luis González finished 7th. The last race of the season saw Nuvola and Álvaro break away from the start and star in a great duel that ended up being won by Morales by just 18 thousandths of a second. This result, combined with González’s 7th place, crowned Nuvola in the CEK Mini. Iván Luis had to settle for second place.

Monlau Motul Karting Team also had high hopes in KZ, a division that arrived in Chiva with Santi Vallvé in second place but with full options to attack the lead. The Catalan started the weekend well, taking second place in the heats closely followed by the double winner at Motorland, Gerard Cebrián (6th). On Sunday, Vallvé made a trademark start to take first place and lead the 18 laps of the race. Great climb also for Cebrián, who rose from 6th to third place in the final and added a new podium for the team. Worse news in the second round, which saw Santi Vallvé finish 5th, a result that forced him to settle for second place in the CEK championship. Cebrián (8th in the second final), Santiago da Costa (16th and 9th), Jaime Cortés (DNF and 10th) and Berta Ràfols (15th and 13th) completed the list of results for the weekend among the Monlau Motul riders.

In the Senior category, Raúl Zunzarren’s double on Aragon lands boosted his mathematical chances of fighting for the title in Chiva, in which Eloi González was also involved. However, the changing dry-wet conditions on Saturday clouded things greatly for both, having to settle for 8th place (Eloi) and 33rd (Raúl) for the first grid on Sunday. In this first final, already on dry asphalt, Zunzarren signed the comeback of the day, recovering 21 positions to finish 12th, while his teammate was placed 4th. In the afternoon, Eloi made a great start and climbed three places to lead the race and, without a single error, take the victory and the Senior runner-up position. The list of results for Monlau Motul Karting Team Zunzarren (11th in the second final), Miquel Blascos (20th and 10th), Asier Terrón (22nd and 19th) and Emmanouil Lioudakis (21st in the two races) closed.

The Junior division had only one name in Chiva, that of Nico García. The Andalusian driver managed to put behind him the bad taste in his mouth of his double zero in the Motorland finals with a great performance on Sunday. Ninth on the grid in the first final, García took the first victory of the weekend after a tense group race that was not resolved until the last lap. García had fewer problems in the second, which he led from the start to the flag with more than 7 seconds of advantage over the best of his pursuers. This double, by the way, allowed him to take third place in the CEK Junior final. The other two Monlau Motul drivers in Chiva were Egor Ivanchenko (24th and 21st) and Beatriz Cardoso (31st and 29th). The

Monlau Motul Karting Team completed the performance in the Academy category, which had one more event with Eduardo Costa as the sole protagonist. After finishing 13th on the grid in the qualifiers, the Portuguese driver followed up with an 11th place and a 12th in the Sunday finals.

Rubén Simón , Team Manager of the Monlau Motul Karting Team, left the last CEK event with deep satisfaction: “The team has been able to cope with the difficult weather conditions, especially on Saturday, and the pressure, in many cases, of the championship finals. We finished Sunday with a spectacular record of victories and podium finishes, which has kept us in the places of honour in almost all categories.”

Jaime Serrano , CEO of Monlau Motul Technical School, provided an overview of the season:“We are really satisfied with the results of this last round and the championship in general. Beyond Nuvola Morales’ title in Mini and the runner-up positions in this same division, Senior and KZ, we close a 2024 in which both the drivers and the technical staff have done a magnificent job, always staying true to the goal we set ourselves at the beginning: to be competitive in all categories from start to finish.”

With the season over, Monlau Motul Karting Team is already starting to carry out its first preparation tasks for the CEK 2025.
