- Up to 106 race technicians of the 2021/23 promotion, between motorsport and motorcycling, celebrated their graduation and the start of their professional career.
- More than 3,500 students have passed through this school of reference and international prestige, which celebrates its 25th anniversary.
- “From a young age, our students wanted to dedicate themselves to motorsport, and this is the starting point. The positive and proactive attitude is always a path to success, and they have shown this from day one,” says Jaime Serrano, general manager of Monlau Motul Technical School.
The Auditorium of the Fundación Once of Barcelona was the scene of the award of diplomas to the students of the class 2021/23 of Monlau Motul Technical School, which accredits them as new mechanics of competition. After two or three years of training, depending on the case, 61 motorsport technicians and 45 motorcycling technicians put an end to an intense and important personal stage.
For many, a childhood dream that has come true, as indicated Jaime Serrano, CEO of Monlau Motul Technical School: “Since childhood they wanted to dedicate themselves to the world of motorsport, and this training is the starting point. In Monlau Motul we seek that students have a 100% real experience, with a permanently updated teaching staff. Positive and proactive attitude is always a path to success, and this has been demonstrated from day one”.
This promotion, the 25th of motorcycling and the 19th of motorsport, has been formed by 106 students from 13 autonomous communities of Spain -with 19 provinces represented- and seven different countries: Spain, Andorra, Portugal, France, Italy, Argentina and Chile.
Accompanied by their families and the teaching team, the graduate students will, from now on, give the definitive jump to the world of work. And they will do so with some accumulated experience thanks to the unique methodology of Monlau Motul, which combines a powerful theoretical part taught in the classrooms-workshop of the center with numerous practices carried out in the facilities of the center, in circuits where the school has agreement, as well as the most real, those developed in international championships where the school has competition team: Team Estrella Galicia 0.0 in JuniorGP and Team Monlau Motorsport in the Spanish F4.
“In Monlau Motul we are a school, but we are also a team. And what better than being able to feed students and teachers these competition teams to get podiums, victories and championships. That means having a teaching team that is active and permanently updated,” adds Serrano.
The graduation ceremony also served to celebrate a very special year for the Monlau Group, which celebrates the 40th anniversary of its foundation and the 25th anniversary of the creation of the first motorsport training center. “To see so many students motivated and excited to fulfill their dream in our school is a responsibility, but also a huge pride,” said Iban Ventura, general director of the Monlau Group. Since its inception, more than 3,500 graduates have passed through school and two out of three alumni are currently working in the sector.
The good reputation achieved by the center was one of the great stimuli that led to sign up for Oscar Torlá, the number 1 car promotion: “I was looking for a training with a lot of practice, and I quickly found Monlau Motul. With the entrance test I saw that the level would be high, signal that we would go far. You are very well trained and experienced to start working”.
Coming from Italy and with the best record in motorcycling, Edoardo Palmieri pointed to the quality of the teaching staff as one of the keys to success. “From day one we have some high-level teachers by our side. And this, added to the balance between theory and practice and good facilities, makes it a unique motorsport center in the world”.
They and four other students were awarded the Monlau Motul Excellence Scholarships, reserved for the three best academic records in both disciplines. Oscar Torlá, Aleix Martí and Sergio Gámez in motorsport, and Edoardo Palmieri, Antonio Aceituno and Lorenzo Capriotti in motorcycling, received their scholarship from Sandra Iniesta, Marketing Director of Motul Ibérica. “It is the second year that from Motul we can help the young promises of motorsport and bet on the evolution of talent, and we are very happy about it. We are committed to formation, which is key and must remain in the future, but even more so with attitude and values”.
The final score is a combination of grades and values like progression and attitude, and for some students, like Oscar Torlá, it was a clear goal: “When I completed my tuition I already told my parents that I wanted to have the best record”.
One of the many incentives that will be the future students of mechanics in motorsport, who will soon step again on the Monlau Motul Technical School to make their passion the profession of their lives.
