- Alexander Jacoby finishes 13th in the third race of the weekend after a great comeback.
- Lorenzo Campos and Francisco Monarca overcome incidents and show an improvement in their race performance.
- “We have managed to move up several positions in all the races, which shows our progress. Saturday was difficult, with many interruptions and incidents that prevented us from finding a consistent rhythm. However, in Sunday’s race, we were able to see our progress,” said David Simón, Team Manager of the team.
- “We are continuing our development in a highly demanding championship. We have shown that hard work and perseverance are bringing us closer to our goal. We will continue to fight to achieve the results we are looking for in the regular season of the Spanish F4,” says Jaime Serrano, CEO of Monlau Motul.
Monlau Motul Technical School completed its second round of the Eurocup-4 Spanish Winter Championship (E4SWC) with a new step forward in its evolution. Despite the fact that the qualifying sessions continued to be an obstacle, the team’s drivers managed to make a comeback in all the races and demonstrated their ability to fight in the midfield and get close to the points zone. Alexander Jacoby, Francisco Monarca and Lorenzo Campos worked alongside the team of mechanics and engineers of the Barcelona team to improve in a high-level competition.
The Friday tests at the Autodromo Internacional do Algarve (Portimão) served to accumulate kilometres with the Tatuus-Abarth T421s and to adapt to the Portuguese track. On Saturday, the first qualifying session put the drivers to the test again. Jacoby set the 22nd best time (1:50.708) and Monarca was 25th (1:51.947). In the first race of the weekend, Jacoby moved up to 14th place, Monarca finished 20th and Campos, who started far behind, was 27th. In the sprint race, Monarca staged another great comeback to cross the finish line in 15th position, Campos finished 16th and Jacoby 25th.
Sunday began with Q2, where the drivers achieved very similar times: Jacoby was 19th (1:45.709), Campos 20th (1:45.732) and Monarca 23rd (1:45.851). In the last race of the weekend, Jacoby went from less to more and achieved one of the best progressions of the day. Finally he was 13th, very close to the points. Monarca suffered a collision on the first lap that made him lose his front wing and forced him to go into the pits to change it, which left him with no chance of fighting in the group and he had to settle for 23rd place. Campos, on the other hand, was delayed at the start and had to fight back from far behind to cross the finish line in 20th position.
David Simón , team manager at Monlau Motul Technical School, commented on the weekend: “We have managed to make progress in all the races, which shows our progress. Saturday was difficult, with many interruptions and incidents that prevented us from finding a consistent rhythm. However, in Sunday’s race, we were able to see our progress. Jacoby had a good race and moved up several positions. Monarca had an incident on the first lap and lost his nose, but he managed to recover positions. It was a difficult race, with many penalties for track limits and a lot of tyre degradation, but we are close to the points zone and I am confident that we will soon score some points.”
Jaime Serrano , CEO of Monlau Motul, highlighted the work done by the entire team: “We continue with our development in a highly demanding championship. We have shown that work and perseverance are bringing us closer to our goal. In each session on track, the technical team and the drivers provide key data for improvement. We will continue fighting to achieve the results we are looking for in the regular season of the Spanish F4.”
The next round of the Eurocup-4 Spanish Winter Championship will be held from 7 to 9 March at the Navarra Circuit, which will mark the end of these winter series. Monlau Motul will seek to continue its progress and add kilometres and experience.
