- Jenson Brickley finished second in the first race, while Èric Gené finished third in the second.
- The Barcelona-based team maintains its lead in the team standings and remains in contention for the title in the drivers’ standings, with Gené second, 14 points behind the leader.
- The Catalan driver also made his FIA TCR World Tour debut at the wheel of the CUPRA León VZ TCR at this event and left a very positive impression.
- “We are satisfied with the team’s work this weekend. We are leaving Valencia with two podium finishes and both drivers among the top finishers in the championship,” said David Simón, Monlau Motul team manager.
- “The technical staff once again demonstrated their commitment and professionalism, and the drivers were very competitive from the outset. We have two more races left and we are going to give our all to take both titles,” said Jaime Serrano, CEO of Monlau Motul.
Monlau Monlau Motul Technical School completed a very competitive weekend at the third round of the TCR Spain 2025, held at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia. The team’s drivers scored two important podium finishes and key points in the fight for the championship. Jenson Brickley shone on Saturday with a second place and victory in the Junior category, while Èric Gené achieved a hard-fought third place on Sunday, also taking first place in the Junior category.
The action began on Friday with two free practice sessions, which served to fine-tune the setup of the CUPRA León VZ TCR for the rest of the weekend. Already on Saturday morning, Gené and Brickley posted a very close qualifying session: the Catalan was fifth with a time of 1:41.557 and the Briton, sixth with 1:41.592.
In the first race, held on Saturday, both drivers showed excellent pace. Brickley got off to a great start and was among the top positions from the opening stages. He handled the pressure well and crossed the finish line in second place, also taking the Junior victory. Gené, who started just ahead of his teammate, also had a solid race and finished fourth.
The second race of the weekend took place on Sunday, with the grid reversed with respect to qualifying times. The two Monlau Motul representatives were again protagonists with comebacks. Gené, who started from sixth position, solidly climbed positions to third place and become the highest-placed Junior. Brickley, meanwhile, started fifth and finished fourth after battling with his teammate until the final lap for the podium.
After the Valencia round, Gené sits in second place in the drivers’ standings—14 points behind the leader—and remains in the fight for the title. He also continues to lead the Junior standings. Brickley is in fourth place overall and the second-best Junior. In the team standings, Monlau Motul retains the lead thanks to the great work of its drivers, mechanics, and engineers.
The weekend also brought a very special moment with Èric Gené’s world championship debut in the FIA TCR World Tour. The young Catalan driver received an invitation from the organizers to compete in the prestigious series, an opportunity made possible thanks to the joint efforts of CUPRA, Monlau Motul, and the Gené family. His participation marked an emotional generational change, as his father, Jordi Gené, was one of the key players in the World Touring Car Championship with SEAT, with which he won team championships in 2008 and 2009. Now, 17 years later, his son took over in the same championship where his father made history.
The young Gené made a strong impression from the start, with a remarkable sixth place in qualifying. However, his debut was hampered by an electrical problem, which marred what was shaping up to be a promising performance.
David Simón , Monlau Motul team manager, highlighted the drivers’ strong performances: “We are satisfied with the team’s work this weekend. We are leaving Valencia with two podium finishes and both drivers are among the top finishers in the championship. Both Èric and Jenson demonstrated a great level on track. Èric also had a good debut in the World Championship with a brilliant qualifying. Despite this, in the first race, when he was running fifth, we detected an electronic problem and decided to prioritize the other races, but the problem recurred and he couldn’t show his full potential.”
Jaime Serrano , CEO of Monlau Motul, highlighted the team’s efforts: “The technical staff once again demonstrated their commitment and professionalism, and the drivers were very competitive from the outset, which encourages us to continue working for the following events. We have two more races left and we will give our all to take home both titles.”
The next round of the TCR Spain 2025 will be held from September 19 to 21 at the Circuito de Jerez-Ángel Nieto, the penultimate round of the championship, where Monlau Motul will play a significant role in its title bid.
