- “We leave satisfied and proud of the attitude and effort shown by our drivers. Since the first race on the calendar, we have seen a clear evolution in the team’s performance, and this is the best sign that we have done a very good job,” says Jaime Serrano, CEO of the team.
Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 came very close to another podium finish at the FIM JuniorGP™ in Valencia, the final race of the season. The Circuit Ricardo Tormo hosted the closing stages of the championship, kicking off its race day with the JuniorGP™ category, where the Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 riders were once again among the frontrunners.
In the first heat, marked by intense competition among the fastest drivers, Rico Salmela remained in the leading group throughout the race until the final lap, where he made several overtakes to finish in fourth position. A very commendable result, as the Finn had to fight his way back through the field after serving a long lap penalty.
His teammate, Italian Dodo Boggio, completed a demanding race in the midfield to finish in 15th position. Casey O’Gorman, who was riding alongside Salmela, suffered a mechanical problem and was unable to finish the race.
After a few hours of rest, the riders returned to the track for the second heat, where this time O’Gorman had a serious chance of finishing on the podium. The Irishman steadily improved as the laps progressed, staging a remarkable comeback that left him in fourth place, just a few tenths of a second shy of the podium.
For his part, Boggio once again showed his character and fighting spirit on the bike and, in a race with constant overtaking, managed to finish 11th. This time it was Salmela who suffered an unfortunate fall on the second lap, but he was able to get back on track and finish the race in 25th position.
With these results, Salmela finishes fifth in the overall standings with 135 points, followed by O’Gorman, sixth with 133. Thanks to Valencia’s six points, Boggio finishes 16th with 23.
In the European Talent Cup (ETC), Mateo Marulanda failed to qualify for the single race scheduled in Valencia. During the Last Chance race early Sunday morning, a red flag with two laps remaining prevented the Colombian from having any chance of qualifying, despite being in the leading group.
With the championship over, Marulanda is 15th in the standings with 38 points. His teammate, Frenchman Nolann Macary, suffered a hand injury on Friday, the result of a crash, which led to his exclusion for the remainder of the weekend.
Finally, in Moto2™, Facundo Llambías displayed remarkable courage and bravery, finishing 14th in the only scheduled race despite being hampered by the injury he sustained at the previous round in Barcelona. With the two points earned in Valencia, the Uruguayan rider finishes 12th in the overall standings with 44 points.
“We leave satisfied and proud of the attitude and effort shown by our drivers in Valencia. Right up until the last day, we had to overcome unforeseen events and obstacles, but these didn’t weaken either the drivers or the technical team. Furthermore, since the first race of the season, we’ve seen a clear improvement in the team’s performance, and this is the best indication that we’ve done a very good job,” explains Jaime Serrano , CEO of the team.
Always true to its values, with a constant drive for excellence and a relentless pursuit of success, Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 has completed a championship that has been a true testament to resilience. A year of evolution, learning, and growth, culminating in a total of ten podium finishes: six for Salmela (one second and five thirds) and three for O’Gorman (three seconds) in JuniorGP™, and one for Llambías (one second) in Moto2™.
