Monlau Motul, aiming for another treble at TCR Europe 2026

  • The Barcelona-based team begins its third participation in the continental championship with the aim of fighting to retain the titles won last season.
  • Viktor Andersson, Adam Shepherd and Marco Butti will drive the three CUPRA León VZ TCRs for the Spanish team, which is expanding its structure for this season.
  • “This year we are taking another step forward with three CUPRAs on the grid for the entire season. We are very pleased with the driver lineup we have assembled, who have extensive experience and profiles that will complement each other very well,” says David Simón, team manager of Monlau Motul.
  • “It’s a source of pride to see how the project has grown in just three years. We’re facing the season with a strengthened structure, three top-level riders, and an excellent team of mechanics and engineers,” says Jaime Serrano, CEO of Monlau Motul.

Monlau Motul Technical School kicks off a new season this weekend in TCR Europe, one of the most competitive touring car championships on the international scene. The Barcelona-based team enters the competition after an extraordinary 2015 season in which they secured a triple crown (drivers, teams, and Youth Trophy), a result that confirmed the project’s growth since its debut. With this track record, the team aims to defend their titles and secure a third consecutive drivers’ championship.

The main development this year is the expansion of their sporting structure, which now includes three CUPRA León VZ TCR cars, necessitating a strengthening of the technical team. While the core staff remains the same as in previous seasons, the addition of a third car has brought in new mechanics and engineers to support the team, which continues to grow within the continental championship.

Behind the wheel of the three touring cars will be Viktor Andersson, Adam Shepherd, and Marco Butti, three drivers with experience in TCR competitions who form a top-level lineup to tackle the championship.

The 22-year-old Swede , Viktor Andersson , will be competing in his fourth season in TCR Europe. A native of Linköping, he arrives after a promising debut with Monlau Motul this year in TCR Spain, where he secured victory in the first race of the championship. His knowledge of European circuits and his experience in the category will be a significant asset for the team.

Meanwhile, Briton Adam Shepherd will be facing his first season in TCR Europe after being crowned TCR UK champion in 2015, a year in which he notched eight victories. The 33-year-old is already familiar with the Monlau Motul structure, having achieved a win with the team in his debut race, and will bring experience and consistency to the project.

Completing the lineup is Italian Marco Butti , one of the rising stars on the international scene. At 20 years old, the driver from Como is embarking on his third season in TCR Europe after winning the Trophy category in his debut year in 2022. After competing in TCR Italy and the FIA TCR World Tour, he returned to the continental series last year and remained in contention for the title until the final round.

The 2026 season will feature six races at some of Europe’s most iconic circuits. The championship will kick off from March 20-22 at the Mugello International Circuit (Italy) and continue at venues such as Spa-Francorchamps, Paul Ricard, Hungaroring, and Monza before concluding the season at home at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.

David Simón , team manager of Monlau Motul, highlights the team’s strength:“This year we’re taking another step forward with three CUPRAs on the grid for the entire season. We’re very pleased with the driver lineup we’ve assembled, which boasts extensive experience and profiles that complement each other perfectly. Viktor knows the championship and the circuits, Marco is a young talent with great potential, and Adam brings a wealth of experience. Our goal is to maintain the level of recent seasons and give our drivers all the tools they need to fight at the front in such a competitive championship.”

Jaime Serrano , CEO of Monlau Motul, assesses the team’s evolution: “It’s a source of pride to see how the project has grown in just three years. We’re approaching the season with a strengthened structure, three top-level drivers, and an excellent team of mechanics and engineers. We’re confident in the work of the entire team to remain competitive in TCR Europe and once again aspire to fight for the titles.”

The opening round at Mugello will follow the championship’s usual format: two free practice sessions on Friday, qualifying and the first race of the weekend on Saturday, and the second and final race on Sunday.
