Garcia Dols fights for points at Misano despite three penalties

The Estrella Galicia 0,0 Moto3 duo of Sergio Garcia Dols and Ryusei Yamanaka contested the Emilia Romagna GP race this Sunday at the Misano World Circuit – Marco Simoncelli.

Garcia Dols crossed the line 17th, in a race in which he had to serve a pending ‘long lap’ and two more such sanctions incurred over the course of the contest. Yamanaka finished 20th, five positions above his grid position, in a 23-lap race won by Romano Fenati.
The weather in San Marino for the race featured clear skies and temperatures of 26 ºC (ambient) and 35 ºC (track).
The Estrella Galicia 0,0 Moto3 Team will be back in action next Friday, September 25th, for the first Free Practice sessions for the Catalan Grand Prix.
Sergio Garcia Dols (17th, +7.167)
Sergio Garcia Dols started 17th on the grid thanks to his Saturday time of 1:43.671, and clocked a 1:42.719 in the warmup on Sunday. In the race itself he moved up positions in the early going, but was later relegated within a large group.
He completed two ‘long lap’ penalties to get back amongst the points, but a third led him to finish in 17th position. He occupies 18th in the overall standings, with 19 points.
”Off the start I was 14th, I think, and fighting through the field, but I went wide on a corner and I had to recover from that. I completed the long lap that I had pending, did so quickly and tried to push hard and see how far I could go. I was riding faster than the riders ahead of me, but when I was about to catch up with the large front group I had to complete another two long laps for exceeding the track limits. The positive thing is that I rode very fast alone, at a track where I had never performed well.”
Ryusei Yamanaka (20th, +20,184)
The Japanese rider set a time of 1:42.768 in the warmup session, which placed him 18th. He occupied 25th place on the grid, thanks to a 1:43.549 lap in Q1
Yamanaka got a great start in the race that took him from 25th to 17th, but lost ground thereafter. Crossing the finish line 20th, he missed out on points after a hard race. He is now 21st in the overall standings with 12 points.
“The start of the race went well, but on the fastest corner several riders got past me. In the middle of the race I realised that my pace was not fast enough. The bike was working well, but I have to look at how I can improve with my crew, because I couldn’t catch the group that was in the points. I have learned a lot from this race, which is the most positive thing.”
