- The students of the 2023/25 academic year conclude their training period with a graduation ceremony at the ONCE Auditorium in Barcelona.
- Up to 104 students from the Competition Mechanics course in Motorsports and Motorcycle Racing, from six different nationalities, have completed their training at the Barcelona school.
- “The environment they encounter during the course is not too different from what they will encounter in reality. Our goal is to give them a solid foundation from which they can grow with experience,” explains Jaime Serrano, CEO of Monlau Motul Technical School.
The 2023/2025 class of the Monlau Motul Technical School’s Racing Mechanics course celebrated its graduation at the ONCE Foundation Auditorium in Barcelona, in a ceremony where the 104 students received their diplomas. With this event, the students complete a key stage before making the leap into the world of work, where many of them have already begun to make their way.
A total of 67 automotive technicians and 37 motorcycle technicians graduated from this class, representing six countries: Spain, Argentina, the United States, Mexico, Russia, and Italy. Within Spain, students came from Catalonia, the Basque Country, the Valencian Community, Aragon, Asturias, Madrid, Andalusia, the Balearic Islands, and Navarre.
This new group of graduates joins the nearly 3,500 students who, over nearly three decades, have passed through the classrooms of the Barcelona school and prepared for the real demands of motorsport. This is possible thanks to a practice-oriented methodology, which allows students to integrate into professional environments, adapt to the pace of the paddock , and face the challenges of a technical team.
Iban Ventura , CEO of the Monlau Group, emphasized the high value of this specialized training: “Today marks the end of one stage and the beginning of another. Our goal is to train professionals capable of turning their passion into their profession. To achieve this, it is key to learn to adapt to changes, take advantage of opportunities that arise, and always maintain a positive attitude, with ambition and clear goals.”
Furthermore, students benefit from highly qualified teachers, active professionals with an up-to-date understanding of the sector. In this regard, Jaime Serrano , CEO of Monlau Motul Technical School, emphasized the importance of these role models: “The environment they encounter during the course is not too different from what they will find in reality. Our goal is to provide them with a solid foundation from which they can grow with experience. In this process, the role of the teaching staff is key, as they are the ones who transmit the demands and passion for the sector.”
These advantages open doors year after year at the national and international levels. Thus, it’s common for students to gain access to top-level competitions after their time at the school, such as MotoGP™, Formula 1, WEC, GT World Challenge, 24H Series, FIM JuniorGP™, WorldSBK, and the Dakar Rally.
Carlos López , director of studies, praised the effort behind each class: “Graduating a new group of students is always a huge satisfaction for us. Every year we manage to develop profiles capable of facing the world of work. Now they’re independent; they just need to believe in themselves and have the courage to go for what they want. They’re ready.”
During the ceremony, Motul Scholarships were also awarded, recognizing the three best academic records in motorsports and motorcycling. These awards not only recognize the student’s grade point average, but also their commitment, attitude, and personal development throughout their time at the school. In motorsports, the scholarship recipients were Miguel Espina, Lara Nuviala, and Alain Soto. In motorcycling, the scholarship recipients were Leonardo Giallini, Marc Cardona, and Biel Campreciós.
Miguel Espina , number one in the motorsports field, mentioned the importance of working in real-life environments from day one: “For me, the most important thing is how close this training is to the reality of motorsport. Everything has a professional objective. The pace, the demands, and the on-track practice force you to always be at 100 percent, just like on a real racing team. It’s a very intense experience, but you leave knowing you can safely take the step into the professional world.”
For his part, Leonardo Giallini , the top rider in motorcycling , who also achieved the highest academic score in the history of the sport with an 8.82, stated that finishing first is “a huge reward for the effort and all the hours dedicated. I came here eager to learn, and I’m leaving with the certainty that this is my thing. At Monlau Motul, you not only grow as a mechanic, but also as a person, and that’s essential to going far in this world. I’ve acquired knowledge, experience, and, above all, a much stronger mentality.”
After this event, the path to a new professional stage begins, in which graduates must apply everything they’ve learned, continue to grow, and establish themselves within the world of competition.
