The Monlau Motul Technical School landed in Germany to compete in the third round of the 2025 TCR Europe at the legendary Hockenheimring. A technical setting that posed a new challenge for Èric Gené and Jenson Brickley at the wheel of their CUPRA León VZ TCRs. Both the team and the drivers were making their debut at the German track, which posed an added handicap when it came to adapting to such a demanding circuit with no time for pre-testing. However, they once again demonstrated their competitiveness during a demanding weekend marked by changeable weather. The program kicked off on Friday with two free practice sessions. Qualifying
took place on Saturday morning , where Gené once again stood out with a fifth place finish (1:48.344), just 0.458 seconds off the best time. Brickley, meanwhile, qualified 16th. In the first race, held that same Saturday, Gené made a masterful start that allowed him to climb to second place in just one lap. However, the pace of his rivals increased, and the Catalan rider ultimately crossed the finish line in fifth place, the highest-placed rider among the Youth riders. Brickley also put in a strong performance: after starting from 16th place, he climbed to tenth after engaging in intense duels with several rivals throughout the race. The second race, held on Sunday, was marked by rain. In this difficult environment, Gené once again stood out for his consistency. Although he lost a few positions in the early stages, he was able to recover in the second half of the race to regain ground and finish in fifth place and secure another victory among the Youth riders. Brickley started 14th and, with an intelligent strategy and consistent pace, moved up to ninth place to make the most of the difficult conditions. With these results, Èric Gené maintains third place in the TCR Europe standings and moves into the lead of the Youth Trophy. Monlau Motul Technical School, meanwhile, remains in second place in the teams’ championship.
David Simón , Team Manager of Monlau Motul Technical School, highlights the complexity of the weekend: “Hockenheim has been a significant challenge. It’s the first time we’ve competed here, and this has complicated the adaptation and set-up of the CUPRA on such a technical track. Even so, Gené achieved a good fifth place in the standings, with extremely close competition. Weather conditions played a key role throughout the weekend. We had a damp, wet track and constant changes, especially in the second race, where strategy made the difference. The team has done an exceptional job at all levels, and we leave with the satisfaction of having achieved the maximum in such a demanding scenario.”
Jaime Serrano , CEO of Monlau Motul, highlights the work done by the entire team: “Each race allows us to continue growing, and this weekend at Hockenheim was no exception. The conditions were very complex, but the team was able to react strongly. We are very proud of the work done by the drivers, engineers, mechanics, and the entire technical staff.”
The next round of the TCR Europe series will be held from June 27 to 29 at the Misano Marco Simoncelli Circuit in Italy. Before that, the Monlau Motul drivers will compete in the third round of the TCR Spain series at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia, from June 13 to 15.
