Monlau Motul Technical School closes a 2024 marked by sporting and educational successes

  • The Spanish training and competition centre remains on the winning track with titles in TCR Europe, TCR Spain and CEK and great results in FIM JuniorGP™ and FIA F4 Spain.
  • More than a hundred students from around the world complete their studies at the School of Racing Mechanics and the Master of Motorsport Engineering.
  • “We have always been committed to a 360-degree management model, with drivers, mechanics and engineers as the main players. And that translates into great sporting and academic results,” says Jaime Serrano, CEO of Monlau Motul Technical School.

With the same philosophy and identity that has brought it to the top, Monlau Motul Technical School completes another year marked by successes on and off the track. With several titles and privileged positions, the Spanish team once again demonstrated its enormous potential, even in new competitions. On the academic level, more than a hundred graduates completed their training between the School of Competition Mechanics – for motorsport or motorcycle racing – and the Master of Motorsport Engineering.

A proposal that combines training with sports practice, which is the basis of the project promoted by Monlau Motul. “We have always opted for a 360-degree management model, which has drivers, mechanics and engineers as its protagonists. And that translates into great sporting and academic results. On the track, we have once again stood out nationally and internationally and established ourselves in the elite of motorsport. Results that would not be possible without the help of mechanics and engineers, many of whom have acquired the necessary knowledge in our classrooms. And this is Monlau Motul’s main asset,” explains Jaime Serrano , CEO of Monlau Motul.

A year of learning and competitiveness in the FIM JuniorGP™
Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 once again demonstrated its enormous talent, both as riders and staff, with several podium finishes throughout the year. In JuniorGP™, Máximo Quiles, a newcomer in the category and in the team, fought until the last race to take the title and finished third in the general classification with four podiums, including one victory. His teammate, Casey O’Gorman, also achieved two podiums and 11th place overall, while Facundo Llambías was 12th overall.

The team was also very competitive in the European Talent Cup, where it was presented with a completely new line-up of riders. Jesús Torres, with sixth place, was the best classified and managed to get on the podium on one occasion, as did his teammate Fernando Bujosa. Enzo Bellon, Pau Alsina and Marianos Nikolis were the other drivers of the team in a season where all of them gained valuable learning for the future. Between both categories, Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 achieved 8 podiums and 1 victory.

Debut with a title in TCR Europe
In his first participation, Monlau Motul was crowned champion of TCR Europe with Franco Girolami and his TCR CUPRA. The driver had a brilliant season where he achieved four wins, seven podiums, three pole positions and scored points in all the races contested to lift his second continental title. Viktor Davidovski also performed well, finishing second in the Diamond Trophy category after a very poor year. In the team category, Monlau Motul finished second.

Second consecutive title in the TCR Spain
For the second year in a row, Monlau Motul Technical School was the best team in the TCR Spain with its four CUPRA units. The Barcelona-based team dominated the category from the second round to the end of the season and took nine podiums and two pole positions . In the individual classification, Érik Zabala finished third overall, with Èric Gené fourth and Miguel Ángel Romero fifth. The excellent performance of all of them, together with that of Sandro Pelatti, allowed Monlau Motul to retain the constructors’ title.

Among the keys to success, it is worth highlighting the work carried out by both drivers and staff in the pre-season competitions, where Èric Gené was proclaimed runner-up in the TCR Winter Series. Meanwhile, Lenny Ried, Tim Gerhards and Lin Hodenius took turns at the wheel of a car in the F4 Winter Series, with a seventh position for Hodenius in Aragón as the best result.

Silver medal at the FIA Motorsport Games
Monlau Motul took part in the FIA Motorsport Games for the first time and did so brilliantly, with a silver medal in the hands of Brazilian Raphael Reis, while Èric Gené came very close to a podium finish, finishing fourth. The team fielded two CUPRA cars in the TCR category. The competition, which took place in Valencia, brings together more than 800 drivers from nearly 80 countries.

A season of growth in the Spanish FIA F4
Monlau Motul completed its third campaign in the Spanish FIA Formula 4 with three cars in all its races, where up to six drivers competed. Two cars were assigned to the young rookies Tim Gerhards and Lin Hodenius, and a third was driven by Rehan Hakim, Eloi González, Hiyu Yamakoshi and Hudson Schwartz. An extremely competitive season where the team made four appearances in the points and finished in 11th position. The team had the key work of engineers and mechanics, all of them with a past or present at the Monlau Motul Technical School.

A feast of podiums at the CEK
Twenty drivers from the Monlau Motul Karting Team participated in the Spanish Karting Championship, which concluded with the title for Nuvola Morales in Mini, as well as two runner-up positions and two final third places. In total, the team accumulated 38 podium appearances, 14 of them with victory.

In addition, led by Eduardo Domínguez, the Monlau Motul Karting Team won the Senior category of the IAME Warrior Final, a prestigious event held in Zaragoza that brings together the best drivers in the world powered by the Italian firm. Of the 12 drivers who competed for the Spanish team, eight reached the final of their divisions.

Competition Mechanics
In one of its most international editions, a hundred motorsport and motorcycling competition technicians of 11 different nationalities completed, in the 2022/24 promotion, their studies at the Monlau Motul Mechanics School. A unique training stage that combines theory in workshops with real practice on circuits.

In motorsport, it was the year with the most international internships in the school’s history, while, in motorcycling, the students once again faced the final project of the course, the Monlau Motul Endurance Race. A four-hour endurance race on the Calafat circuit where students must put into practice all the knowledge acquired during their studies. A very close edition in which the time record was broken in the mandatory pit stops .

Master in Motorsport Engineering
On the other hand, 23 students from the 15th promotion graduated from the Master in Motorsport Engineering, which stands out for its theoretical and practical training, of 350 hours of class, taught by active teachers. The students complete real practices on the track, as well as a final project based on the organization of an event. In this last promotion there were students from Spain, France, Romania, Mexico, Ecuador, Chile and Argentina.

In addition to the face-to-face format, Monlau Motul also teaches the master in its online version. Specifically, three options are offered: the Advanced Motorsport Master, with a specialization in cars and motorcycles, made up of 24 modules and with the possibility of completing two real practices on the track; the MSc Race Cars, focused only on motorsport; and the MSc Race Motorbikes, focused on motorcycling. Each of these last two formats is made up of 11 specialized modules.

Monlau Management
In line with its aim of training and supporting talented young riders to fulfil their dreams, Monlau Motul also has Monlau Management, a division for the representation, management and advice of riders with over 20 years’ experience. Monlau Management seeks to extract the maximum return from its riders to help them reach the top through a 360-degree vision, where it focuses on aspects such as organisation on and off the track, maximum development of potential, building a personal brand and fiscal and financial management, among others. Jeremy Alcoba (Moto2™), José A. Rueda (Moto3™), Ángel Piqueras (Moto3™), Casey O’Gorman (JuniorGP™) and Facundo Llambías (JuniorGP™) are some of its riders.

Another example of the powerful impact that Monlau Motul Technical School has in all areas of motorsport, where year after year it adds new successes and where it is already working to surpass itself again in 2025.
