Team Estrella Galicia 0.0 faces a new FIM JuniorGP season in Estoril with renewed ambitions

  • The Spanish team faces the first of the seven events scheduled in the calendar, where it will have eight riders in total in the JuniorGP categories. and the European Talent Cup.
  • With some new names and an excellent team of professionals around them, the team will fight to renew the JuniorGPTM title and get the ETC title.
  • “We are looking forward to the new season at the FIM JuniorGP. We will continue with the good line of work maintained last year and hope that the same or even better results will come with the effort of our pilots, the involvement of the technical team and the support of the sponsors,” says Jaime Serrano, CEO of the team.

Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 will start its journey in the World FIM JuniorGP. 2023 next May 7, with Estoril as the stage of the first of the seven races that has the calendar this year. The Spanish team starts with a line-up of four riders in the JuniorGP World Championship and four others in the European Talent Cup (ETC) under the same slogan: fight for podiums and victories with the achievement of the championship on the horizon.

After a last season of learning and good results, with a world title included, Team Estrella Galicia 0.0 has worked intensely throughout the winter to reach the best possible form to the Circuit of Estoril (Portugal)stage of the inaugural meeting. Both teams will be led by Kev Coghlan in the role of Team Manager and by Max Moro as technical director, heading a structure where the bikes will be prepared and technically assisted by Monlau Motul, who will offer a staff of first level professionals.

In the JuniorGP (Moto3) category, Team Estrella Galicia 0.0 has the honor, but also the challenge, of trying to revalidate the crown achieved last year with the Andalusian rider José Antonio Rueda. For this, the Barcelona training has four drivers, two of them incorporated this season in their ranks. The Italian Elia Bartolini and the French Alex Gourdon reinforce a very competent line-up that already had two experienced drivers as the Valencian Angel Piqueras, who in 2022 finished fifth in the general standings, and the Uruguayan Facundo Llambías, which was sixteenth, both in their debut year in the category.

“We are looking forward to the new season at the FIM JuniorGP. We will continue with the good line of work maintained last year and hope that the same or even better results will come. For this, we will have not only the talent and effort of our pilots but also the involvement and professionalism of technicians and engineers, who have worked very hard during the pre-season, as well as the support of all sponsors who are at our side”, says Jaime Serrano, CEO of Monlau Motul. “We have all the illusion of revalidating the title in JuniorGP and get, for the first time, the ETC. The riders and the whole team are very motivated and eager to demonstrate in Estoril what we are capable of,” he concludes.

In this sense, Kev Coghlan, Team Manager of the team, points the solidity of the set as an important asset to keep in mind: “We will go to win the championship. Ángel Piqueras and Facundo Llambías already know what it is to be on top, and we are very confident in the level of Elia Bartolini to be on the podium, and in that of Alex Gourdon to progress throughout the season. In the ETC, we worked during the pre-season focused on fighting for the title with Brian Uriarte, Rico Salmela and Hakim Danish, and with Amanuel Brinton in full evolution. From the first race in Estoril we will give everything so that our riders are progressing and learning week after week”, highlights.

With everything prepared on the Portuguese track, the first weekend of the season will begin with free training on Thursday and Friday, which will give way to the qualifying session on Saturday (from 10:00h CEST). With the starting positions decided, on Sunday the first races of the championship will take place, with the Last Chance of the ETC at 10:15h CEST. The first round of the ETC, scheduled for 15 laps, will start at 12:00 CEST; the JuniorGP, with 16 laps ahead, will be played at 14:00 CEST, while the second round of the ETC will leave at 15:00 CEST. All the action of the weekend can be followed live through the DAZN platform, as well as its channel in Movistar+, and in Teledeporte.

The championship, which kicks off in Estoril, will run until the second visit to the Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Cheste (Spain), on November 5.

The Red Bull Rookies Cup 2023, also among the main objectives

Parallel to the FIM JuniorGP, some of the riders of Team Estrella Galicia 0.0 also participate in the Red Bull Rookies Cup 2023, which started at the end of March and, after four races held, has the Valencian Angel Piqueras as a solid leader of the general. In the two races played in the opening round of Portimão (Portugal), Piqueras was the fastest and shared podium with Rico Salmela, who was third in the first race, and with Hakim Danish, who was also third in the second.

At the end of April the second stop took place in Jerez, where Piqueras was first and second, while Salmela repeated fifth position in both races. Danish was ninth and eleventh. The next stop for drivers will be at the Le Mans circuit (France), on 13 and 14 May.
