- The JuniorGP™ riders will have two races to stay in the fight for the title with three races to go.
- The five drivers of the team in the European Talent Cup aspire to fight for privileged positions, with Jesús Torres as the best classified.
- “The three-week break has been great for us to recharge our batteries and prepare in detail for the Portimão race. The entire team has worked intensely so that our drivers can be ahead in both categories,” explains Jaime Serrano, CEO of the team.
After a well-deserved three-week rest, on June 23 Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 will return to FIM JuniorGP™ action with the test scheduled at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve (Portugal). It will be the second test to be held on Portuguese soil this year and the fourth event on the calendar out of a total of seven.
In the JuniorGP™ category, where the podium was touched in the last race held in Montmeló, the team arrives especially motivated and with the desire to remain in the fight for the title. A fight where, for now, the best placed is Máximo Quiles, 8th with 31 points, while Casey O’Gorman is 10th with 25 and Facundo Llambías 15th with 19. The best news is that Quiles, O’Gorman and Llambías will compete in two races on the Portuguese circuit, with the possibility of getting fully into the fight for the championship
On the other hand, the drivers of the European Talent Cup (ETC) will have only one round on Sunday, a situation that suggests that we can enjoy, if possible, a more hard-fought and spectacular race. After days of intense preparation and analysis of improvements, the five drivers of the team arrive with great ambition in Portimão, where they hope to add the third podium in the category this season after those achieved by Jesús Torres (second) and Fernando Bujosa (third) in Estoril .
Torres is the best placed driver in the general classification, where he occupies 6th position with 52 points, and depending on the results he could finish the weekend in second place. Behind, Pau Alsina is 9th with 27 points and Bujosa, 11th with 25. Somewhat behind is Marianos Nikolis, 19th with 12.
“ The three-week break has been great for us to recharge our batteries and prepare in detail for the Portimão race. The entire team has worked intensely so that our drivers can be ahead in both categories. In JuniorGP™ we will fight to get on the podium and climb positions in the general classification, while in the ETC we will work precisely to not get off it and thus repeat the good performance achieved in Estoril ,” says Jaime Serrano , CEO of the team.
In a high-level competition like JuniorGP™, it is key to perform at your best from the first minute the drivers step on the asphalt, as Max Moro , Team Leader Project, points out: “ It will be essential to do a good set-up on Thursday and Friday. It allows us to have a good classification on Saturday and thus be very well positioned in the two races on Sunday. We want to score points as soon as possible so as not to lose the trail of the first places in the general classification .”
In the ETC, Moro highlights the confidence that the team has in the five drivers: “ They all arrive full of energy and very well prepared physically. We are very clear that all five have great talent and that any of them can take the top positions. Torres, Alsina and Bujosa can make an important jump in the classification, and Nikolis is making a lot of progress as the races progress. Enzo Bellon has already recovered from his injury and it will surely be noticeable in his performance on the track .”
The show at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve will start with free practice on Thursday and Friday. Saturday’s qualifying session will begin at 9:00 a.m. CEST, with starting positions to be decided. Sunday, race day, will open with the ETC Last Chance at 9:15 a.m. The first JuniorGP™ race will be at 11:00 a.m., scheduled for 15 laps, while the only ETC race will start at 1:00 p.m. with 14 laps to go. The second round of JuniorGP™ will be at 2:00 p.m., also 15 laps. The FIM JuniorGP™ show can be followed live through the DAZN platform, on its channel on Movistar+ and on RTVE.
