Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 takes the podium at the FIM JuniorGP™ in Jerez

  • Máximo Quiles, with a hard-fought second position, leads the team’s results in JuniorGP™.
  • Enzo Bellon finished fifth and was the best placed rider in the two races held in the European Talent Cup.
  • “All the races in the championship are very difficult and hard-fought, and Jerez has been no exception. We are very satisfied with the great work of the drivers and the whole team,” says Jaime Serrano, CEO of the team.

The Jerez–Ángel Nieto Circuit hosted the fifth round of the FIM JuniorGP™ calendar, the first of three consecutive rounds to be held on Spanish soil and which will mark the end of the season. A weekend of intense work, as two rounds were held in both the JuniorGP™ category and the European Talent Cup, and where Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 took a podium of honour.

The first of the JuniorGP™ rounds was intense and complicated, with multiple exchanges of positions and different groups on the track. Máximo Quiles , who started fifth, was not lucky and suffered a fall, with twelve laps to go, when he was looking for the lead. Facundo Llambías and Casey O’Gorman , placed in the chasing group, gave their all in a nice fight where the Irish rider came out better with seventh position, while Llambías finished 13th.

With just enough time to recover some energy, the same riders returned to the asphalt of the Jerez track to face the second challenge. Quiles, eager to make up for his fall, put in a brilliant performance, where he managed the pace well at all times and achieved a well-deserved second position.

Behind him, Llambías’ good race did not translate into a better result due to tyre wear. The Uruguayan was eighth, while O’Gorman suffered a fall that prevented him from scoring.

With these results, Quiles occupies sixth place in the general classification with 84 points, while O’Gorman is ninth with 60 and Llambías is 12th with 47.

For their part, the European Talent Cup riders also contested two races, where there was no shortage of excitement and the fight for the top positions. In the first race, Enzo Bellon performed at a high level, and led the race with five laps to go. But the usual agitation at the end left him without a reward and he finished fifth.

Behind him, Pau Alsina improved and climbed from 20th place at the start to 12th place at the end, while Fernando Bujosa was very consistent on the bike and finished 14th and Marianos Nikolis had some problems catching the leading group and finished 17th. Jesús Torres had misfortune on his side and crashed when he was among the top five.

The second ETC race was affected by a traffic light error at the start, which caused the race to start a few minutes later and the duration to be shortened to nine laps (five less than originally planned). In these circumstances, the best rider of the team was again Bellon, who maintained the line of the first race and left a very good impression on the track with a sixth position.

Torres finished just behind him, who was able to perform at the expected level after the fall in the first race and fight for podium places until the end. A little further back, in 13th and 15th position respectively, were Nikolis and Alsina, who fought to climb positions as the laps went by and score some points. The one who was unable to finish was Bujosa, who fell in the early stages after a good start.

Thus, Torres remains the team’s best rider in the general classification with sixth position and 61 points. Alsina is ninth with 42, while Bellon climbs to 15th place after scoring 21 points in Jerez and Nikolis is 18th.

“We know that all the races in the championship are very difficult and disputed, and Jerez was no exception. We are very satisfied with the great work of the riders and the entire team; we must value the podium achieved by Máximo Quiles as it deserves. We will continue on the good line of dedication and effort in both categories,” says Jaime Serrano , CEO of the team.

After the Jerez event, the FIM JuniorGP™ faces the final stretch of the championship with its last two commitments, also in Spain. Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 will have a month to prepare and offer its best performances at MotorLand Aragón, where one JuniorGP™ race and two ETC races will be held.
