Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 wants to finish on top at the FIM JuniorGP™ in Estoril

  • The team is heading into the final JuniorGP™ race of the year with ambition, still with a mathematical chance of winning the title with Máximo Quiles.
  • In the European Talent Cup, the drivers will try to close the season on the podium on a circuit that brings back fond memories.
  • “We know that anything can happen in racing and we are going to fight until the checkered flag. We want to close the season as it deserves,”  says Jaime Serrano, CEO of the team.

Nearly a month and a half after the last round of the FIM JuniorGP™, held at MotorLand Aragón, Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 is ready to face the end of the season next Wednesday, November 27. The venue will be the Circuito do Estoril (Portugal), which already hosted a first round this year in May.

In the seventh and final round of the calendar, the Spanish team arrives with a mathematical chance of fighting for the JuniorGP™ title with Máximo Quiles. The Murcia native is 43 points behind the leader with 50 still at stake. A difficult but possible task, which has caused the ambition to be maximum and which, if achieved, would generate a historic milestone: adding the third consecutive title in the category.

Quiles, Casey O’Gorman and Facundo Llambías will have two rounds to say goodbye to the season with the best taste in their mouths and place Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 where it deserves due to its track record and prestige. Last May, the best placed rider in the only race held in Estoril was Quiles with a sixth position. Currently, Quiles occupies the third position in the general classification with 104 points, tied with the second, while O’Gorman is ninth with 76 and Llambías, 14th with 47.

“We know that in races anything can happen and we are going to fight until the checkered flag. The whole team has prepared thoroughly to give their all in both races and fight until the end to achieve a historic milestone. We want to close the season as it deserves,”  says  Jaime Serrano , CEO of the team.

For its part, the team also faces the only race scheduled in the European Talent Cup with the desire to see its riders on the podium. Although physical and mechanical problems have reduced the riders’ chances in the championship, Estoril presents itself as an ideal occasion to end the season on a good note.
This scenario brings back fond memories for the riders, as last May, Fernando Bujosa took third place in the first race and Jesús Torres took second in the next and final race of the day. Next Wednesday, Pau Alsina, Enzo Bellon, Marianos Nikolis and the aforementioned Bujosa and Torres will fight to finish in the top positions. On the eve of the final race, the best placed rider in the general classification is Jesús Torres, sixth with 67 points, while the next is Alsina, 11th with 42. They are followed by Bellon (12th with 41), Bujosa (17th with 31) and Nikolis (18th with 31).

In this sense,  Max Moro , Team Leader Project, points out that “We can place at least three riders in the Top 10 of the general classification, and we are going to try to achieve it. We have fond memories of the first round at this circuit, where we achieved two podiums, and we want to repeat it. The objective we have always set ourselves is to maintain the upward trend of work and results. We have done very intense preparation work since Aragon and the team and the riders are ready.”

The heavy rains that severely affected different areas of the Valencian Community forced the last round of the calendar to be moved to the Estoril circuit, and also to change its date. With no free practice scheduled, the riders will compete in the qualifying phase on Tuesday from 12:20 CEST. With the starting grid set, the races will begin on Wednesday with the ETC Last Chance at 10:00 CEST. The first JuniorGP™ race will start at 11:00h, scheduled for 16 laps, followed by the only scheduled ETC race at 12:00h, with 15 laps to go. The second JuniorGP™ race will be at 14:00h, also over 16 laps. All the action can be followed live on the DAZN platform, on its Movistar+ channel and on RTVE.
