Team Estrella Galicia 0.0 triumphs in the FIM JuniorGP of Valencia with a double and lead by Ángel Piqueras

  • In the heat of his people, the Valencian rider signed a perfect weekend with victory in the two races of the JuniorGP. and confirms his condition of favorite to the title.
  • In the two rounds of the European Talent Cup, Brian Uriarte and Rico Salmela achieved a podium each in a category that proved to be very exciting and even.
  • “The whole team has proven to be very motivated and work very well, and with our drivers on all the podiums. This would not be possible without the support provided by Estrella Galicia 0.0, Motul and the rest of the sponsors”, says Jaime Serrano, CEO of the team.

Team Estrella Galicia 0.0 endorsed this past weekend at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Cheste (Valencia) their status as a candidate for the title in the FIM JuniorGP. Angel Piqueras, Brian Uriarte and Rico Salmela signed great performances, while the other drivers of the team also showed their competitiveness on the asphalt.

In the first JuniorGP race, with a great rhythm Ángel Piqueras managed to escape the group and open a gap with Joel Esteban and Nico Carraro. A penalty to Carraro left a hand-in-hand between Piqueras and Esteban who sided with the Team Estrella Galicia rider 0.0 when he beat his rival on the last lap and defended his position perfectly. Behind, Elia Bartolini remained in the third chasing group and, after a few last hard fought laps, finished in 8th position, while Facundo Llambías was 14th and Alex Gourdon, 24th.

The riders recharged for the second race, where three of the Team Estrella Galicia 0.0 riders were also in the top ten of the grid. After a few laps, a leading group of five riders was formed, among them Piqueras and Bartolini, who kept a nice hand to hand with Roulstone and Carraro. The outcome of the event reserved good and bad news for Team Estrella Galicia 0.0, where Piqueras beat two rivals in one of the last corners to take the final victory. For his part, Bartolini was left without prize after going to the ground with Carraro. The Uruguayan Llambías improved his performance with the Honda and finished in 9th position, while Gourdon also exceeded his performance and finished 18th.

After the two races in Valencia, Ángel Piqueras is the clear leader of the championship with 70 points, ahead of Roulstone, with 44. Elia Bartolini is 9th with 17 and Facundo Llambías, 16th with 9.

“Ángel Piqueras was spectacular. In the first race, he was smart. In the second, we knew it was going to cost more, and yet you risked. With Elia Bartolini, we have found a more correct set-up of the bike and he has shown that he can be in front despite the fall” says Kev Coghlan, Team Manager: “With Facundo Llambías and Alex Gourdon we worked different points of his driving and have taken a step forward”.

The European Talent Cup also had a double portion of races, with a lot of equality and spectacle. Team Estrella Galicia 0.0 rider Brian Uriarte, who started with pole position in the first race, was in the fight for the lead during all the laps with his teammate Rico Salmela. A fall in the last moments altered the outcome and allowed Salmela to enter third position, but it hurt Uriarte, who was saved from rolling on the ground, and finished 8th. Just behind would arrive his teammate Amanuel Brinton, who added his first points, and Hakim Danish, who entered 11th after a great comeback.

In the second round of the ETC, Uriarte and Salmela shot in the group fighting for the podium places. With a few last exciting laps, the Cantabrian launched a prize attack to finish second. The Finn took 7th, while Danish took 13th and Brinton 19th.

With these results, Brian Uriarte placed second in the general standings with 78 points, just five from the new leader, Máximo Quiles, and just ahead of Rico Salmela, third with 55. Danish is 9th with 24 and Brinton is 18th with 7.

“It has been a good weekend with very motivated team and great collective work. Angel Piqueras has struck on the table, and the rest of the team’s drivers have been very competitive. In the ETC, Brian Uriarte and Rico Salmela have fought at all times for the podium, and Amanuel Brinton and Hakim Danish have improved despite some obstacles. This would not be possible without the support provided by Estrella Galicia 0,0, Motul and the rest of the sponsors”, says Jaime Serrano, CEO of the team.

On June 3 and 4, the FIM JuniorGP will travel to the Jerez circuit, where the JuniorGP and European Talent Cup riders will return to play two races per category.
