Team Monlau Motul brought the 2026 FIM MotoJunior™ World Championship to a close at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli with a standout podium finish for Facundo Llambías in the Moto2™ European Championship. The Uruguayan rider finished third in the category’s only race, his best result of the year and an excellent way to cap off a season marked by his progress.
The action began on Friday with free practice sessions, where the riders and technical teams worked to find the best setup for their machines. On Saturday, Travis Borg qualified tenth for the Moto3™ races with a time of 1:42.201, while Kerman Tinez competed in Q1 but failed to advance to Q2. In Moto2™, Llambías secured ninth position on the grid with a time of 1:35.957.
In the first Moto3™ race, Borg was involved in a very competitive race, with an intense battle in the chasing pack. The Maltese rider steadily climbed through the field in a very close race to finish seventh. Tinez, who started from the back of the grid, made a strong comeback to cross the finish line in 13th position and score points.
The second race again demanded the maximum from the Moto3™ riders. Borg, who started from tenth place, fell back somewhat in the early stages and couldn’t catch the leading group in a race marked by constant overtaking. After a demanding race, he finished ninth. Tinez once again demonstrated his ability to recover positions and finished 13th.
The Moto3™ standings leave Travis Borg in sixth place overall after a debut season in which he established himself as a key contender. The Maltese rider reached the top of the standings and secured four podium finishes throughout the season, demonstrating speed and the ability to fight for the top positions. Although the second half of the season proved more challenging and he couldn’t maintain the momentum of the first few months, his performance confirms the potential he displayed throughout the year. Kerman Tinez, meanwhile, finishes the championship in 13th position.
In the only race of the Moto2™ European Championship, Facundo Llambías, starting from ninth position, delivered an outstanding performance, with overtakes and constant progress that allowed him to reach third place. Once in the podium positions, the Uruguayan rider maintained a solid pace and increased his lead over his pursuers to secure a result that rewards his hard work and represents his first podium of the year and his best performance in the championship.
Llambías’ third-place finish at Misano allows him to finish eighth in the Moto2™ overall standings. After a difficult start to the championship in a very demanding category, the rider gradually found his rhythm and improved his performance in the second half of the year. His results in the last few races, culminating in this podium finish, reflect consistent progress and a great deal of maturity in managing the races.
In the Moto4™ European Cup, Nolann Macary failed to qualify for the race. The French rider, however, has demonstrated great work ethic and commitment throughout the season. The experience he has gained and his dedication in the pit box provide a solid foundation for further development.
“We are very happy to close the season with Facundo’s podium finish, a result that feels like a victory after all the work he has put in throughout the year. Travis has completed an extraordinary debut season, with four podiums and even leading the championship at one point, although the second half of the season has been more challenging than expected. Kerman has also worked hard all year and has continued to progress in a very demanding category. In Moto4™, despite the difficulties, we are satisfied with Nolann’s development and commitment. Both the riders and the technical team have demonstrated great effort and dedication throughout the entire season,” explains Eduardo Villodre , team manager of Team Monlau Motul.
“It has been a demanding year, in which the involvement of the entire team has been fundamental in supporting the riders and helping them continue to grow. The competitiveness shown at different points in the championship and the constant work of the entire structure reflect the commitment with which we have approached each event,” says Jaime Serrano , CEO of Monlau Motul Technical School.
The Misano race concludes the 2026 FIM MotoJunior™ World Championship for Team Monlau Motul, who bid farewell to a year of learning, work and competitiveness, with their sights already set on the next challenges.
