Monlau Motul Karting Team puts the finishing touch on the CEK with three Spanish Championship titles

  • The Barcelona team achieves a triple in Junior with Iván González as the new national karting champion followed by Nuvola Morales and Juan Alameda.
  • In Mini, Marc Cruz seals the title with his teammate Thiago Huertas in third place, and Sergio Barreda rounds off the performance by dominating the Rookie category.
  • The 15 Monlau Motul drivers achieved a victory in the final, thanks to Nuvola Morales, and three other podium finishes, in the fourth and final scoring event of the competition.
  • “The team’s performance at the Aspar Circuit has been close to excellence, and all team members have met the objective we had set for them: to be competitive from the first to the last event ,” highlights Rubén Simón, Team Manager of Monlau Motul Karting Team.
  • “Our drivers’ 2026 season has been spectacular, which shows that our method works and helps to develop the motorsport drivers of the future ,” says Jaime Serrano, CEO of Monlau Motul Technical School.

The Monlau Motul Karting Team concluded the 2016 Spanish Karting Championship (CEK) season at the Aspar Circuit with an outstanding haul, highlighted by three Spanish Championship titles: Marc Cruz in Mini, Sergio Barreda in Mini Rookie, and Iván González in Junior, the latter achieving a hat trick in the final standings. The performance of the team’s 16 members was exceptional, with Nuvola Morales ‘ victory and Juan Alameda ‘s third-place finish in Junior standing out, as well as Lorenzo Pastoressa ‘s double podium finish (second and third) in the Academy category.

The Aspar Circuit brought the CEK’s long summer break to a close with the crowning of its champions. Sixteen Monlau Motul riders attended the event, accompanied, as always, by a large and highly skilled technical team. All of them had to contend with the understandable pressure that comes with the final race of the season, compounded by particularly challenging weather conditions due to the heat.

The Junior category confirmed the team’s excellent form from the timed practice sessions. Nuvola Morales led an all-Monlau Motul Karting Team top five, a momentum that continued in both the heats and, the following day, in the super heat and final. Morales was the standout driver of the meeting, ultimately winning the final decisively, with his teammate Iván González taking third place. The Monlau Motul colors were also the most prominent in the top ten, with three more drivers: Juan Alameda (4th), Nilas Malik (7th), and Massimiliano Filonzi (10th). Pablo Reche (12th) and newcomer Mico Lionn Schweers (13th) finished close behind these top positions . Monlau Motul Karting Team concludes a perfect year with a resounding hat trick led by Iván González and followed by his teammates Nuvola Morales and Juan Alameda .

The title haul was also fruitful in Mini and Mini Rookie, two divisions that have had two clear standouts this 2016: Marc Cruz and Sergio Barreda , respectively. Cruz did his homework during the initial phase of the event, achieving outstanding results in qualifying and heats, and finished 9th in the final, just ahead of his teammate and title rival Thiago Huertas , who ends the CEK in third place. Guillem Coll completed the list of results , finishing 7th in Sunday’s race.

Among the newcomers, Sergio Barreda had a near-perfect meeting, dominating practice, heats, and the super heat, always competing with the returning competitors, and only faltering in the final, where he finished 26th. However, the groundwork had already been laid, and the loss of points on Sunday did not prevent him from securing his first Spanish championship.

In the KZ category, Asier García was once again in contention for a top-three finish throughout the competition. The driver from Avilés, who dominated practice and consistently held third place after both the heats and the super heat, failed to secure a clean sweep in the final due to a regulatory issue, preventing him from clinching third place in the CEK. Hugo Martí, meanwhile, had a strong showing, climbing to a final 16th place on Sunday.

A similar story unfolded in the Senior category, where Cristian Fuente had to focus on the Aspar Circuit event in comeback mode after some difficult qualifying races, finishing the Sunday final in 17th position.

The Monlau Motul Karting Team’s participation was completed by its sole representative in the Academy category, Lorenzo Pastoressa . The Andalusian driver confirmed his significant sporting improvement with his best performance of the season, achieving podium finishes in both Sunday finals: 2nd in the first and 3rd in the second.

Rubén Simón , Team Manager of Monlau Motul Karting Team, expressed his pride and satisfaction with the team’s performance in Valencia: “ The team has been close to excellence in this final event of the year, with categories like Junior where we have frequently occupied the top five and have had the most representation in the top 10, or Mini and Mini Rookie where our drivers have consistently been among the best. I believe these two categories perfectly demonstrate what has been a magnificent year, in which all our members have achieved the objective we set for them: to be competitive from the first round to the last .”

Monlau Motul CEO Jaime Serrano offered a broader perspective on the championships: “ Our drivers’ 2026 season in the CEK has been spectacular, with three titles, one of them, the Junior title, a hat trick. This excellent result confirms that our working method works, and that it helps to develop the drivers of the future .”

The closing of the Spanish Karting Championship does not conclude the season for the Monlau Motul Karting Team, which still has important commitments this quarter in the Valencian competition, the IAME World Finals or the Lecont Trophy.
