Monlau Motul Karting Team begins this weekend in Campillos, Málaga, a new season in the Spanish Karting Championship (CEK), in which it will field a powerful structure made up of 25 technicians and 18 drivers distributed among the CEK Academy, Mini, Junior, Senior and KZ. The Barcelona team faces the new year with the aim of fighting for the podium or victory in each final and thus reach the final event of the competition, scheduled in September in Chiva, with its drivers in the fight for the titles, as This has already been achieved in 2023.

Race by race, finish by finish. Here is the philosophy of the Monlau Motul Karting Team for the new season. After successful 2022 and 2023, the team renews its hopes, but without giving up the work and professionalism that is the house’s trademark. The team’s team manager, Rubén Simón, underlines these objectives: “Our goal is to fight for podiums and victories in all categories, because only this path will allow us to reach the last race of the season with possibilities of the title. To do this, we have a high-level lineup that alternates drivers capable of being in the fight for the championships with other first-year names who aspire to achieve good results.”

In the base categories, the Monlau Motul Karting Team lineup starts with Eduardo Costa, who will be the only value of the team in the Academy CEK division. The Mini category, usually the largest in the CEK, will be headed by Iván González and Nuvola Morales, 3rd and 4th placed last season, respectively. They will be joined by Álvaro Perelló and Rafa Varela.

The Junior division, a capital step in the sporting evolution of these future midfield talents, will also have three representatives with the colors of Monlau Motul: Nico García, Beatriz Costa and Egor Ivanchenko.

Raúl Zunzarren, Junior runner-up in 2023, is promoted to the Senior category, where he will share space with Miki Blascos, 8th last season, Asier García, Francisco Costa and Mateo Rubio Luengo.

Another category that borders on the circuit disciplines, KZ, reserved for karts with gearboxes, will be the one with the most names from Monlau Motul Karting Team. Heading the list is the defending champion, Sete Veà, and the fourth best in 2023, Santi Vallvé, who will share the structure with Santiago Ribeiro, Berta and Arnau Ràfols.

These 18 names will be very well surrounded by a competent and large technical team of 25 people, among whom are students and alumni of the Master of Engineering in Motorsport and the School of Competition Mechanics. Their work in setting up and repairing the karts will be decisive in a Spanish Championship that continues to gain in number of riders and competitiveness.

The 2024 season of the discipline includes a calendar with four events, the first of which this weekend in Campillos, Málaga. Next, the contest will move to Zuera (May 17-19), Motorland (June 14-16) and will say goodbye in Chiva (September 20-22).

At the start of the new campaign, Jaime Serrano, CEO of Monlau Motul Technical School, commented: “The team maintains its progression year after year, as confirmed by the fact that, in the last race of last season, we had at least one of us fighting for the title in all the categories in which we compete, and which ultimately provided two more titles to our showcases. Repeating this history requires professional and conscientious work by athletes and technicians in a very reduced calendar, with just four appointments, and which does not forgive mistakes.” The debut stage for the Monlau Motul Karting Team will be the 1,588 meters of the Andalusian Kartcenter Campillos, a track that is always challenging and that this weekend will welcome the CEK with a forecast of good weather and temperatures that are somewhat cooler than usual, with maximums that They will be around 20ºC. The program will begin on Friday with free practice sessions. On Saturday the timed trials and qualifying rounds will be held, and the next day the expected two scoring rounds will be held.
